Saint Petersburg Tree Removal Permit



A permit shall be required for the removal of any tree from any one or two unit residential property in any NS zoning district, or an NT-1, NT-2 and NT-3 zoning districts. For the purposes of this section, any reference to the term 'tree' or 'trees' shall mean any tree which is four inches dbh or larger and is one of the following species:

Buttonwood, Conocarpus erecta
Cedar, Juniperus spp.
Chickasaw Plum, Prunus angustifolia
Cypress, Taxodium spp.
Dogwood, Cornus spp.
Elms, Ulmus spp.
Flatwoods plum, Prunus umbellata
Holly, Ilex spp.
Magnolia, Magnolia spp.
Maples, Acer spp.
Oaks, Quercus spp.
Pignut Hickory, Carya glabra
Pines, Pinus spp.
Prickly Ash (Wild Lime), Zanthoxylum fagara
Red Bay, Persea borbonia
Red Mulberry, Morus rubra
Sea Grape, Coccoloba uvifera
Sugarberry, Celtis laevigata
Sweet Gum, Liquidambar styraciflua
Sycamore, Platanus occidentalis
Tupelo, Nyssa spp.
Willow, Salix spp.


A permit shall also be required for the removal of any Royal or Cabbage Palm which has four feet or more of clear trunk.
A tree removal permit is not required to remove trees of any species not listed above, including but not limited to the following species:
